Throughout the ages, the Chinese have used lanterns not only for light but to symbolize vitality, social status, and good luck. Beginning on Wednesday, November 20th through Sunday, January 12, 2020, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will shine a light on an illuminating tradition of color, light, and symbolism with their annual Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild.
The Asian Lantern Festival: Into The Wild is an event celebrating the culture, art, and beauty of traditional Asian lantern festivals. Tianyu, an international event design and manufacturing company headquartered in Zigong, Sichuan, China, has partnered with attractions throughout the world to share this authentic Chinese event featuring larger than life LED lanterns, performances, special foods, live music, and more.
The family-friendly event in Sanford is not included in the Zoo Annual Pass. A discounted admission rate of $15.50 per person listed on the membership card is available. General Admission is $18.50 with Children 2 and under FREE. The lanterns will be viewable during regular zoo hours but will not be illuminated. The Asian Lantern Festival will be open from 6pm-10pm on Wednesday- Sunday evenings with the last entry into the zoo ending at 9:30pm each night.
