The city of Altamonte Springs is located in Seminole County and is a northern suburb of the Orlando-Kissimmee area with a population of more than two million. Altamonte is Spanish for "high hill," and the city is full parks and recreational areas including Merrill Park and the Lake Brantley Sports Complex. Altalmonte Springs plays host to several special events for the local Orlando area. Some of the events include a community Earth Day event and the Red, White & Boom event, which is in honor of the Fourth of July and draws more than 100,000 people from all over Central Florida. Altalmonte Springs hosts monthly events including Cranes Comedy where the best national and local comedians put on a show at the Eddie Rose Ampotheater, and a Car Crusie featuring classic cars set to 50's and 60's music. In recent years an outdoor town center was erected and named "Uptown Altalmonte." The central business district of Uptown Altamonte is home to a choreographed water fountain that is sure to entertian guests of all ages with its 20 minutes shows set to lights and different genres of music.
