Event Details

Casselberry’s free Rock N’ Blues Concert and Car Show on Saturday, May 25, from 5-9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park (located at 95 Triplet Lake Drive) will feature the “Who’s Who” in the Rock N’ Blues world including the sensational headliner, actress/singer/songwriter Dana Fuchs. As her colorful career grew and she shared her struggles of death and loss in her family, her songwriting never failed to strike a heartfelt chord with her audience. Her raspy voice invited comparisons to rock singer Janis Joplin, and she acted as the singer in “Love, Janis,” an Off-Broadway musical about Joplin that ran from 2001 to 2003. When director Julie Taymor wanted to make a movie about someone with a voice similar to Joplin’s, she hired Fuchs for the cult movie “Across the Universe.” Her albums “Bliss Avenue” and “Songs from the Road” reached Top 10 of the Blues Album Chart of Billboard magazine. In 2018, she released “Love Lives on” on her own label and has been touring around the world ever since. Opening for this concert, co-sponsored by the City of Casselberry and 1059 Sunny FM, is Tony Sheridan and the Wild Angels. As the oldest son of the late rock ‘n’ roll musician, Tony Sheridan (best known for being a significant mentor/collaborator with the Beatles), the junior Tony Sheridan continues the family musical legacy as an incredible Rockabilly guitarist and singer. The next act performing is local favorite, The Volts. Hailing from Northern Florida where gospel and soul music continue in a strong and heavy southern soul tradition, band leader Kevin Maines brings a his own unique twist of R&B and soul to the classic southern R&B/Soul legacy. Besides the music, there will be more than 100 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods for car enthusiasts to enjoy. Car show company Cruisin’ Orlando has been around since 1999 and has a great reputation for bringing in the best cars. As part of this Memorial Day Weekend event, the City will again honor all veterans for their service with a color guard display and plaque.
