The city of Apopka, Florida. Also known as the ?fern city.? This nickname stemmed from the large amounts of fern growers who had claimed ferns as the city?s main source of industry before it flourished into many different tropical plants which are now grown here also. The city center is a lodge, which happens to be the oldest lodge remaining in use in Florida. The city of Apopka measures its boundaries exactly 1 mile out all around this center lodge. Located on Main Street. US 441. Apopka, has many attractions. Including the Wekiwa Springs State Park, which contains over 7,000 acres of diverse plants and wildlife. This park is popular for its swimming, canoeing, hiking and camping. Also there is the Rock Springs Run which lays along Florida?s Wekiva river, used for canoeing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. Apopka also has many different hotels varying in qualities for your preferred comfort levels. All in all this city is a beautiful quiet place with lots of wildlife and parks.
