Description
The facility opened in 1995, under the name Kissimmee Family Aquatic Center and was renamed the Makinson Aquatic Center in 2003, in honor of former City Commissioner/Mayor Bob Makinson. He passed away in July of 2007. The center received a make-over in 2003, to include an underwater fantasy mural painted along the walls of the facility.
While the center is open to the public on a seasonal basis, it operates year-round as a training center for competitive swimmers, local lifeguards and programs that teach people of all ages how to swim.
The facility can also be rented for corporate gatherings and birthday parties. The professional and caring team that manages the day-to-day operations of the center is what makes it appealing for private functions.
