Hi my name is Vernon and it all began with a dream and a desire to impact the community. For many years, I had a desire to own a local eatery that would allow me to share delicious treats inspired by my rich Barbados heritage. Whether catering weddings, church events or birthday parties, my vision has always been to serve a little love and happiness to others … one bite at a time.

After an investment in an ice cream franchise did not pan out, my wife, Veneatra and son, Qynntyn, took a leap of faith and relocated from Austin, Texas to Orlando, Florida in 2017 to be closer to family.

After settling in Orlando, we knew the time was right to launch our own homemade ice cream cafe — a place with a neighborhood feel and a welcoming and happy atmosphere that we could call our own. But where would we begin? We didn’t know Orlando like we knew Austin — where we had lived for nearly 20 years. But after months of research and discussions with realtors, we found the ideal location for Cocolando in Ocoee. What we didn’t expect, however, was to find a second location in the same week that we would fall in love with in Oviedo!

So in November 2018, we opened both Cocolando locations in Ocoee and Oviedo. While we didn’t expect to open two locations at the same time, it has been an amazing experience to reach and connect with people through our ice cream
