Event Details
Florida’s Children First (FCF), an award-winning non-profit organization that has been the voice of at-risk children and youth in Florida, will recognize truly remarkable child advocates and former foster youth at the annual Orlando Advocates for Children Awards. Tickets begin at $150 each, which includes drinks and appetizers.
This annual event showcases the accomplishments of community leaders in the greater Orlando area who support its mission of making positive changes in the lives of children, particularly those in the foster care system and youth experiencing homelessness. Ginger Gadsden, News Anchor at WKMG/Local 6, will emcee the event and attendees include community leaders, former honorees, and individuals who are committed to helping Florida’s most disadvantaged children.
FCF is delighted to present the 2024 Outstanding Non-Profit Advocate for Children Award to the Wekiva Foster Closet, an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of foster youth, foster and adoptive parents, single parents, and those struggling throughout the greater Orlando area by providing vital resources and ongoing support.
Additionally, Foster Youth of America will be honored as the Outstanding Nonprofit Champion for Children for their extraordinary efforts to meet the needs of youth aging out of foster care, support foster and adoptive parents, and encourage others to consider becoming a foster or adoptive parent to children who have had very challenging start to their lives.
Also being celebrated is Michael Farbsten with the 2024 Outstanding Youth Advocate Award. A rising leader in his Florida Youth SHINE chapter, Farbsten is a passionate and driven young man who has shown tremendous commitment to advocating for the needs of youth in foster care and supporting his peers in care.
